Mean Girls meets Braveheart
It’s been said that all men are pigs and all women are catty. Perhaps the most prolific cat fight in history will play out in this one. And piggish men will do what they do.
On one side you have Queen Joker (Margot Robbie) who has the full power of England behind her. On the other side you have Queen Hanna (Saoirse Ronan), her cousin/sister – not sure because the royals do a lot of inbreeding. But whatever you know these bad bi-otches are gonna clash mightily.
It’s basically being sold as Saoirse Ronan as Braveheart battles the Queen of Hearts. Watch the trailer and judge for yourself.
Personally, I really enjoyed Elizabeth starring Hela. Good luck topping that one, ladies! Fight me on Twitter: @FilmGrouch
Story: “Mary Queen of Scots” explores the turbulent life of the charismatic Mary Stuart (Ronan). Queen of France at 16 and widowed at 18, Mary defies pressure to remarry. Instead, she returns to her native Scotland to reclaim her rightful throne. But Scotland and England fall under the rule of the compelling Elizabeth I (Robbie). Each young Queen beholds her “sister” in fear and fascination. Rivals in power and in love, and female regents in a masculine world, the two must decide how to play the game of marriage versus independence. Determined to rule as much more than a figurehead, Mary asserts her claim to the English throne, threatening Elizabeth’s sovereignty. Betrayal, rebellion, and conspiracies within each court imperil both thrones – and change the course of history.
