What’s in a name anyway? When you think about it, the name #Snickers sounds kinda ridiculous. It’s named after a laugh or something?
There are products out there with really inane names that don’t have anything to do with the product nor industry. Then, there are great names that immediately drive the consumer to the product.
Zazzle – an online clothing boutique.
Viggle – an app that pays you to watch TV.
Apple – a store that sells state-of-the-art fruit, no, I mean technology.
FourSquare – I still don’t know what the hell that means . . .
AdultSwim – I can pick on them, I watch them all the time. But, while their name is clever, it has nothing to do with swimming!
Twitter – When it came out, I literally thought, what’s everyone all “a twitter” about? Then I looked – – – genius!
TicketMaster – They are the people that own your souls, no, I mean ALL the tickets of the world. You are their servants, and you will pay any price to watch idiots with little talent gestate on stage to bad music. Or, maybe you prefer sports, then you are ok. 🙂
SoundHound – it sounds exactly like what it is, a device that will track down sounds.
Ancestry – could they BE any more obvious?
FilmGrouch – Cuz, duh, we are a film site run by a grouch! Love-able, cuddly, me!
