Whenever I get these lineups, I like to peruse the list and see how many of the films I have actually watched. Most of the time, there are only a couple I have seen, or I saw them so long ago I forgot almost everything about them.
So, I thought I would try something with this release and give you a quick breakdown of the films I have actually seen. Maybe it will buy me some more critic street cred. Let me know what you think in the comments below.
The Faculty: A film about a bunch of teenagers offing their teachers who have been replaced by aliens. Featuring some faces that are now quite well known. Has a decent soundtrack too.
Howling II: Your Sister Is a Werewolf: All you need to know about this awesome werewolf flick is Sybil Danning steals the whole freakin’ film! And it’s a perfect representation of these kinds of ’80s jiggle horrors.
Killer Klowns From Outer Space: A sci-fi geek’s wet dream, chock full of clowns, from outer space, who hilariously dispatch humans, and once you find out their ultimate goal, it’s enough to make you swear off circuses forever. The humor is relentless, and if you are afraid of clowns, this won’t assuage that fear, not even a little bit.
Lady in White: Simply one of the best haunted murder mysteries ever put to film. Featuring an awkward Lukas Haas, I saw this one when I was about his age. The idea of a kid trying to unravel a terrifying secret murder with the help of a ghost is right up my alley. Seriously, if you haven’t seen this film, you are missing something incredible!
Monkey Shines: All I can remember about this movie is that I only watched it once, and it scared the shit out of my friends and I. It was unsettling the first time I watched Friends, waiting for Marcel to kill Ross. Didn’t he see this movie?
Real Men: The best CIA movie you’ve never seen! The late and wonderful John Ritter is a normal guy who gets recruited by the CIA to help negotiate a deal with aliens. A classic “trap movie” that if it’s on, I am going to watch it no matter what is going on in my life. I just love this movie!
Rollerball: Sorry, but if it isn’t the 1975 original, it’s complete shit! Watch the original, it’s got James Caan!
Species: It’s an interesting twist on the alien probe myth, but the series got a little winded by the third movie. The first two are worth your time, and the sexy alien is a plus.
Teaching Mrs. Tingle: A film about getting revenge on that one teacher that just never knows when to stop with the tough love, but there’s nothing easy about this revenge. A great flick to enjoy if you are a fan of Helen Mirren. And, who isn’t, right?
Teen Wolf: Let’s face it, unless you just don’t like movies at all, you’ve probably seen Teen Wolf and Teen Wolf Too.
Well, that about does it for the films I’ve watched on this month’s lineup. You can click here or below for the full listing. And let me know which film you are most looking forward to seeing this month.
