Hard to believe, but it’s been thirteen years since we met the incredible Parr family! They were growing up in a world that was over super heroes. In fact, it was a crime to be an un-registered hero, and they were strictly forbidden to use any powers. Folks familiar with Watchmen will note the obvious parallels to the shutdown of anyone deemed too powerful by the government in that universe.
I was happy with how The Incredibles balanced family friendly programming with a slight edge, where in one scene Elastigril (Holly Hunter) tells her kids something like, “This isn’t a movie, if the bad guys have a chance, they will kill you.” With a commanding cast led by Craig T. Nelson as the hunk with a heart, Mr. Incredible who tried to keep his powers under control as he dealt with the overpowering pangs of nostalgia – while convincing his family that they had to keep stifling their greatness.
And when The Incredibles ended, we learned the big reveal that the Parr’s newborn also possessed some unique gifts. I never thought they would actually make a sequel, but now I am really excited to see where it goes from here.
Here’s the first teaser, enjoy!
Official synopsis: Everyone’s favorite family of superheroes is back in “Incredibles 2” – but this time Helen (voice of Holly Hunter) is in the spotlight, leaving Bob (voice of Craig T. Nelson) at home with Violet (voice of Sarah Vowell) and Dash (voice of Huck Milner) to navigate the day-to-day heroics of “normal” life. It’s a tough transistion for everyone, made tougher by the fact that the family is still unaware of baby Jack-Jack’s emerging superpowers. When a new villain hatches a brilliant and dangerous plot, the family and Frozone (voice of Samuel L. Jackson) must find a way to work together again—which is easier said than done, even when they’re all Incredible.
