A Million Ways to Die in the West: Directed and co-written by Seth MacFarlane (Ted), starring Charlize Theron, Amanda Seyfried, Giovanni Ribisi, Neil Patrick Harris, Sarah Silverman and Liam Neeson – this could very well be this generation’s Blazing Saddles . . . oh, yea, I went there!
Seth MacFarlane directs, produces, co-writes and plays the role of the cowardly sheep farmer Albert in A Million Ways to Die in the West. After Albert backs out of a gunfight, his fickle girlfriend leaves him for another man. When a mysterious and beautiful woman rides into town, she helps him find his courage and they begin to fall in love. But when her husband, a notorious outlaw, arrives seeking revenge, the farmer must put his newfound courage to the test.
Swift take: I love just about everything Seth MacFarlane does, I was even one of the first Family Guy geeks to start playing The Quest for Stuff. That’s a great game too, and as much as I loved Ted, I have incredibly high hopes for this flick. Blazing Saddles was my anthem for many years, and I also test real film lovers with an old western comedy, Rustler’s Rhapsody. I am sure you are as excited as I am to check this one out in theaters.
In the meantime, be sure and check out this Alan Jackson music video . . . another nod, perhaps, to Mel Brooks? You be the judge, below:
