I just heard about this on Twitter yesterday, a movie that is already scaring the living shit out of audiences across film festivals. I was a huge fan of The VVitch, and I see the same producers are bringing us this really creepy looking horror film that is being called the new generation’s Exorcist.
It will be interesting to see how the story unfolds and what dark twist that A24 unleashes, as they are a studio that is not afraid to delve into the depths of human depravity. I don’t always agree with the messages they put out to the universe, but their ability to instantiate their message is certainly commendable.
And this is starring the very talented Toni Collette, with Gabriel Byrne, Ann Dowd, Milly Shapiro, and Alex Wolff. This will be Director Ari Aster’s first feature length film, and from the looks of the trailer, he’s going to be a household name very soon.
Official Synopsis: When Ellen, the matriarch of the Graham family, passes away, her daughter’s family begins to unravel cryptic and increasingly terrifying secrets about their ancestry. The more they discover, the more they find themselves trying to outrun the sinister fate they seem to have inherited. Making his feature debut, writer-director Ari Aster unleashes a nightmare vision of a domestic breakdown that exhibits the craft and precision of a nascent auteur, transforming a familial tragedy into something ominous and deeply disquieting, and pushing the horror movie into chilling new terrain with its shattering portrait of heritage gone to hell.
