Interstellar: Is the upcoming science fiction film directed by Christopher Nolan, who co-wrote the screenplay with his brother, Jonathan Nolan, and stars Matthew McConaughey, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Casey Affleck, Ellen Burstyn, and Nolan mainstay Michael Caine. It’s worth noting that everyone listed is either an Oscar winner or was at one time an Oscar nominee.
My H-Impression: As it stands now, Christopher Nolan is arguably the greatest filmmaker working today. Nearly every film he has made, from his still under-seen debut, Following, to the concluding chapter of his Batman trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises, is a masterpiece, and he only tops himself with each passing project. Far be it for me to over-hype something, but it appears, from what I’ve seen of his upcoming science fiction epic, Interstellar, that Nolan is poised to outdo himself yet again.
Ever since Inception, Nolan has had control over the marketing of his movies, whetting the audience’s appetite and giving them a very general impression of the film, while keeping the plot itself entirely shrouded in mystery. That is what he’s done with the new Interstellar trailer, and I’m perfectly fine with that. This will be the last trailer for Interstellar that I watch, as I want to know absolutely as little as possible about it from here onward. What’s rather obvious is that it’s ultimately a film about deep space exploration.
Until I see the movie, that’s all the info I need. As a fan of 2001: A Space Odyssey, Prometheus, and others of that ilk, my interest is already piqued, and with Nolan at the helm… I am beyond stoked. I might be over-hyping it for myself, if no one else, but I truly do not give a rat’s rectum. For me, November can’t get here soon enough!
